FOODSTUFF BUSINESS
Hyundai Corporation Holdings aims to build a value chain across the food industry based on diversified business capabilities from Hyundai Corporation. To this end, we are importing high quality meat produced in developed countries such as US, Australia and Germany. Since first entering the industry in 2011, we have successfully entered the meat distribution market with a rapid annual growth rate of over 100% based on sales.
In addition, in October 2015, we joined Hyundai Corporation Holdings, which was newly launched from equity spinoff, securing a growth engine for the future. In the future, we will grow quantitatively by simultaneously investing in food processing facilities and diversifying sourcing channels, which are closely related to the import and distribution business.
Korea is a country with insufficient meat supply and relies on imports for 30-40% of the annual consumption. Korea’s meat consumption is relatively small compared to advanced countries with similar living standards, and it is expected that the price of imported livestock products will be reduced due to the abolishment of tariff barriers such as FTA.
Hyundai Corporation Holdings is contributing to stable supply and demand in the domestic meat market by securing safe and high quality meat products at reasonable prices and supplying to the domestic market in a timely manner. The livestock industry consists of livestock raising, slaughtering, processing and consumption stages. The stages after slaughter can be classified into livestock product distribution. Hyundai Corporation Holdings is purchasing meat from overseas meat packers and selling to domestic meat wholesalers. Hyundai Corporation Holdings intends to continue introducing meat products with world class competitiveness. Representative meat brands provided by Hyundai Corporation Holdings are as follows. / EXCEL®, SWIFT®, SHOWCASE®, ibp Trusted Excellence®, AMH®, Tönnies, PERDIGAO
Hyundai Corporation Holdings, as part of its new business, is promoting Cambodian agricultural products distribution business as a strategic business.
Starting from trading agricultural goods in Cambodia, we plan to expand our business scope to frontal and rear operations of agricultural goods by going beyond simple trading and by expanding value chain from production stage to processing and distributing tropical fruits such as mangos.
Hyundai Corporation Holdings seeks new business opportunities not only in the meat import and distribution business, but also integrating frontal and rear operations of value chain and overseas expansion. We are considering various business expansion plans such as investing in sourcing channels such as overseas production facilities related to meat import and distribution business and investment in domestic distribution network. Also, based on spirit of Hyundai people which has been led by the late honorary chairman, Chung Ju-young and Hyundai Corporation’s overseas infrastructure, we are constantly paying attention to pioneering overseas market.
