Hyundai Agro Mango Farm, a Cambodian farm run by Hyundai Corporation Group’s investment, is located in Kampong Speu, one of the biggest mango growing region in the world. Hyundai Corporation regularly dispatches its staff every year to offer an opportunity to experience farm and deliver clothes, shoes, hats and bags donated by staff in Korea. Also, we visit the nearby Kampong Speu Elementary School voluntarily to take time together and give out stationery sets, footballs and volleyballs to students.
In 1977, when people had been unfamiliar with the term social welfare, the late Chung Ju-yung’s ‘Asan Social Welfare Foundation’ that took the lead in CSR activities by building hospitals in neglected regions and giving out scholarships, and ‘Kwanhun Club Jung Shin-young Research Fund’ supports research and overseas training of journalists for the development of domestic media. We are also participating in ‘Asan Nanum Foundation’, launched in 2012 based on the founder’s belief in social contribution, and ‘Juridical Foundation Yeol’ that protects traditional culture
In light of globalization, ‘multicultural families’ are rapidly increasing, and Korea has entered the multicultural era. Hyundai Corporation, where it is linked with families all around the world in diverse forms during the course of its business activities in the global stage, we are conducting a program that supports ‘home visits to multicultural families’ that seeks emotional stability and harmony of multicultural families in Korea by offering marriage immigrants an opportunity to visit their home country.
As part of the global community, Hyundai Corporation Group staff strive to make a sustainable community through small practices in everyday life. Centered on the ‘volunteer group’ that started from a voluntary circle, we visit neglected neighbors in ‘compact room clusters’ in Donui-dong, Jongno-gu regularly to provide free meals, and visit the so-called last shanty towns of Seoul including Baeksa Village in Nowon-gu and Guryong Village in Gangnam-gu to provide briquette of love. Furthermore, we are continuing small steps to build on a beautiful world such as ‘talent volunteering’ that turns talents in music, drawing and photography into love for the neighbors, ‘clean street volunteering’ that picks up garbage in streets, and ‘blood donating’ to help stable supply of blood.
East Timor Youth Football Club, a football club in East Timor, which is known as one of the poorest countries, became well known by coach Kim Shin-hwan who also modeled the 2010 movie, ‘A Barefoot Dream’. Since 2015, Hyundai Corporation has been sponsoring meals and travel expenses as well as football gears such as football shoes, balls and uniforms to the youth football team during field trainings. The head of Costa Football Club in East Timor delivered certificate and plaque of appreciation for our sponsorship with love and interest in the development of football in East Timor in July 2017.
Pos-Hyundai, a steel processing center operated by Hyundai Corporation Group in Chennai, Tamil Nadu, India, visits nearby elementary schools and children’s centers with its corporate head and global staff each year to support them and support laboratory equipment as well as building library and toilets for students and children with learning disability. Hyundai Corporation’s overseas business sites always strive to make ‘symbiotic community’ with local residents.
